Lasqueti committee advances meeting-procedure bylaw
The committee approved three readings of an amended bylaw and sent it to the Islands Trust Executive Committee for approval.

The amended Meeting Procedures Bylaw No. 100 would allow electronic meetings while changing provisions on in-person attendance, contact information, chairing meetings and speaking time. The Lasqueti Island Local Trust Committee gave the bylaw three readings and forwarded it to the Islands Trust Executive Committee for approval.[1]
The committee amended the draft to remove the words “held in-person” from Section 3, add email addresses to Section 6, and change the speaking-time limit in Section 51.3 from 15 minutes to 45 minutes.[1]
A motion to remove paragraphs 18 to 28 in the draft’s delegations section was defeated.[1]
The minutes record differing views on in-person meetings: trustees discussed a minimum of two in-person meetings per year, while Trustee Timothy Peterson said he would prefer wording requiring in-person meetings whenever feasible.[1]
The committee also asked Trust Council to consider adding a full-time staff position to the 2022/23 fiscal-year budget for electronic meeting support; the motion carried.[1]
