What is a structure on Lasqueti?
Lasqueti has its own land-use bylaw, Bylaw 78. Some of its words are not used on other islands.
A platform is a structure
Lasqueti’s bylaw says a structure is anything built on land or water, and the list includes platforms. A deck on the ground is not named as an exception here the way it is on Denman.
“including buildings, display signs, poles and towers, platforms, breakwaters, sheds, bins”
Six tents count as one house
When the bylaw counts how many homes a lot may have, six tent sites count as one home.
“six (6) tenting sites are considered equivalent to one dwelling density”
A mobile home sits with the bus and the trailer
A mobile home, a travel trailer, a bus, or a boat may be stored if nobody is living in it. On a lot that already allows a house, one of those can count as the house, or stand in for a small guest cabin.
