Trustees scheduled a special electronic meeting for December 6, 2021, to consider specific amendments to Lasqueti’s Official Community Plan, along with the 2022 meeting schedule and a meeting procedures bylaw.[1]
The committee had cancelled its regular December 6 meeting and asked staff to arrange the special meeting for up to four hours. Trustees were asked to provide written motions at least 10 days beforehand so they could be included in the agenda package.[1]
At the October 4 meeting, the committee passed second reading of the OCP bylaw as amended. The amendments included adding a definition of livestock and reorganizing the bylaw’s sections and numbering.[1]
Staff said a special meeting would allow the committee to focus on the OCP item and would legally allow an electronic meeting under the current meeting procedures bylaw. Trustees noted that a special meeting would not include a town hall, and that public comments could be received up to the next meeting.[1]
The minutes record public comments about the difficulty of attending electronic meetings and concerns about making decisions during COVID. The committee also heard that the OCP public hearing date had been delayed.[1]
