Lasqueti committee advances public-notification bylaw
The bylaw would require statutory notices to be published in a newspaper at least once a month on Lasqueti Island.

The Lasqueti Island Local Trust Committee gave first, second and third readings to Public Notification Bylaw No. 106, as amended, and forwarded it to the Islands Trust Executive Committee for approval.[1]
The amendment replaces electronic posting on Islands Trust’s social media platform with publication “in a newspaper that publishes at least once a month on Lasqueti island.”[1]
The minutes record discussion of reliability, accessibility and suitability, including a bulk Canada Post mailout that would cost approximately $35, and a preference for at least one analog method.[1]
The committee also gave first reading to a separate bylaw that would increase the minimum lot size in specified areas from 4 hectares to 4.05 hectares, with a public hearing requested for May 4, 2026.[1]
The next regular meeting is scheduled for February 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. and is to be held electronically.[1]
