The Lasqueti Island Local Trust Committee amended its Official Community Plan review project charter to include consideration of changing subdivision regulations to reflect a 10-acre minimum lot size.[1] The committee also requested a staff report on the status of the review’s first-reading draft and a preliminary analysis of how the Land Use Bylaw aligns with it.[1]
The minutes say a trustee raised concern that the existing 4-hectare subdivision threshold could allow extra lots in large subdivisions, and that the proposed amendment would increase the minimum to 4.04 hectares.[1] Staff said both the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw would need amendments, and that new subdivision applications would remain subject to existing rules until an amendment had fully passed.[1]
The committee’s discussion followed public comments about the subdivision rules and the pace of the Official Community Plan review.[1] The minutes record that the committee discussed the delay in responding to Snaw-naw-as First Nation and that Trust Area Services would lead drafting future outreach letters.[1] The minutes also say the Senior Intergovernmental Policy Advisor position was close to being filled and that outreach was better deferred to the next meeting.[1]
